Events/Short Term Detour Information

GREAT ALOHA RUN 

The GREAT ALOHA RUN will be held on MONDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 2018.  Approximately 22,000 runners/walkers are expected to participate in this event.  The run will start at Nimitz/Nuuanu and proceed westbound on Nimitz to Kamehameha Hwy., and finish inside the Aloha Stadium.  TheBus will service all bus stops along the detour route.

ROUTE 4, NUUANU-PUNAHOU 

Eastbound:   No detour. 

Westbound:  TheBus will travel the regular route to Punchbowl/Beretania, right Beretania, left Nuuanu, left King, left Bethel, and then resume the regular route. 

ROUTE 6, PAUOA-WOODLAWN 

Eastbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to Pali/Beretania, right Beretania, left Nuuanu, left King, right Punchbowl, left Queen, and then resume the regular route.                       

Westbound:  TheBus will travel the regular route to Queen/South, right South, onto Alapai, left Beretania, left Nuuanu, left King, left Alakea, and then resume the regular route. 

ROUTE 7, KALIHI VALLEY 

Eastbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to Mokauea/Hau, left Hau, left Kalihi, and then resume the regular route. 

Westbound:  TheBus will travel the regular route to Kalihi/Kalani, right Kalani, right Mokauea, and then resume the regular route.   

ROUTE 9, KAIMUKI-PEARL HARBOR 

Eastbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to Center/Kamehameha, right Kamehameha, take EXIT 15A “Airport/Nimitz” to Nimitz, and then resume the regular route after passing Valkenburgh. 

Westbound:  TheBus will travel the regular route to Kamehameha/Middle, take H-1 WEST (Upper Viaduct) on-ramp, take Exit 15B “HICKAM AFB/PEARL HARBOR,” onto Nimitz, right Center to the terminus.  NOTE: There will be no service to Valkenburgh and Navy Exchange areas. 

ROUTE 10, KAILHI-ALEWA HEIGHTS 

Eastbound:   From temporary terminus at Mokauea/King (Zippy’s), TheBus will continue on Mokauea, left Hau, right Kalihi, right Kalani, right Mokauea, and then resume the regular route. 

Westbound:  TheBus will travel the regular route to Mokauea/King, and terminate at the temporary terminus fronting Zippy’s. 

ROUTE 11, MAKALAPA-HALAWA-AIEA HEIGHTS 

Eastbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to Bougainville/Radford, left Radford, right Salt Lake, left Puuloa, right “HWY 78 HONOLULU,” onto Moanalua freeway EAST, onto H-1 EAST, and then resume the regular route. 

Westbound:  From Vineyard/Palama, TheBus will travel left onto H-1 WEST at “Vineyard Blvd” on-ramp, continue on Moanalua Freeway, right EXIT 3 “PUULOA RD/TRIPLER HOSPITAL,” left Puuloa, right Salt Lake, left Radford, right Bougainville, and then resume the regular route. 

ROUTE 19, WAIKIKI-AIRPORT-HICKAM

ROUTE 20, WAIKIKI-PEARLRIDGE

Eastbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to Nimitz/Lagoon, left Dillingham off-ramp, onto Dillingham, right King, right Punchbowl, left Pohukaina, right South, left Ala Moana, and then resume the regular route.  

Westbound:  TheBus will travel the regular route to Ala Moana/South, right South, onto Alapai, left Beretania, left River, right Hotel, onto King, left Dillingham, onto Kamehameha, take H-1 WEST (Upper Viaduct) on-ramp, take EXIT 16 “AIRPORT” to Airport (Upper Level), left onto H-1 on-ramp, left H-1 WESTWAIANAE, ” to this point:

Route 19:   Take EXIT 15B “HICKAM AFB/PEARL HARBOR,” onto Nimitz, right Center, right Kamehameha, onto Nimitz, right Elliott, and then resume the regular route into Hickam Air Force Base.

Route 20:   Take EXIT 15A “STADIUM/ARIZONA MEMORIAL,” onto Kamehameha (contra-flow lane), and then resume the regular route at Kamehameha/Salt Lake.

Note:  TheBus will not operate into the Arizona Memorial service stop while contra-flow lane is in operation. 

ROUTE 31, TRIPLER-MAPUNAPUNA

Eastbound:   From Airport Upper Level, TheBus will remain in the left lane to access H-1, onto H-1 EAST, take EXIT 18B “MIDDLE STREET,” left Middle, right Kalihi Transit Center to Route 31 bus stop, exit Kalihi Transit Center, right Middle, left Kaua, left Kikowaena, left Ahua, right Kilihau, right Puuloa, and then resume the regular route back to Kalihi Transit Center. 

Westbound:  TheBus will travel the regular route to Kalihi Transit Center/Middle, left Middle, right onto H-1 WEST (Upper Viaduct) on-ramp, onto H-1 WEST, take EXIT 16 “AIRPORT.”  TheBus will service stops along the Airport upper level Inter-island and Main Terminal. 

ROUTE 32, KALIHI-PEARLRIDGE 

Eastbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to Kamehameha/Honomanu right “HONOLULU EAST” on-ramp, onto Moanalua Freeway, right EXIT 1BHALAWA VALLEY/STADIUM,” right Kahuapaani, left Salt Lake, and then resume the regular route. 

Westbound:  From Kalihi Transit Center/Middle, TheBus will travel right Middle, left Kaua, left Kikowaena, left Ahua, right Kilihau, right Puuloa, resuming regular route to Salt Lake/Kahuapaani, then continue via right Kahuapaani, left Ulune, left Kaimakani, right Moanalua, left Laulima, right Kamehameha Highway, and then resume the regular route.

ROUTE 40, HONOLULU-MAKAHA

ROUTE 62, HONOLULU-WAHIAWA

Eastbound:   No detour. 

Westbound:  TheBus will travel the regular route to Kamehameha/Middle, take H-1 WEST (Upper Viaduct) on-ramp, take EXIT 15A “STADIUM/ARIZONA MEMORIAL,” onto Kamehameha (contra-flow lane), and then resume the regular route from Kamehameha/Salt Lake.  

ROUTE 42, EWA BEACH-WAIKIKI 

Eastbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to Punchbowl/Halekauwila, continue on Punchbowl, left Pohukaina, right South, left Ala Moana, and then resume the regular route. 

Westbound:  TheBus will travel the regular route to Kamehameha/Middle, take H-1 WEST (Upper Viaduct) on-ramp, take EXIT 15A “STADIUM/ARIZONA MEMORIAL,” onto Kamehameha (contra-flow lane), and then resume the route from Kamehameha/Salt Lake.

Note:  TheBus will not operate into the Arizona Memorial service stop while contra-flow lane is in operation.

ROUTE 55, HONOLULU-KANEOHE-HALEIWA

Westbound:  TheBus will travel the regular route to Ala Moana/South, right South, onto Alapai, left Beretania, left Nuuanu, left King, left Alakea, and then resume the regular route. 

ROUTE 65, HONOLULU-KAHALUU 

Eastbound:   AMC/Kona Buses- TheBus will travel the regular route to Pali/Beretania, right Beretania, left Nuuanu, left King, right Punchbowl, left Pohukaina, right South, left Ala Moana, and then resume the regular route.

Bishop/King Buses- TheBus will travel the regular route to Pali/Beretania, right Beretania, left Nuuanu, left King to the temporary terminus at the Alapai Transit Center. 

Westbound:  AMC/Kona Buses- TheBus will travel the regular route to Ala Moana/South, right South, onto Alapai, left Beretania, left Nuuanu, left King, left Alakea, and then resume the regular route.             

Bishop/King Buses- From the temporary terminus at Alapai Transit Center, TheBus will travel right Alapai, left Beretania, left Nuuanu, left King, left Alakea, and then resume the regular route. 

ROUTE A, CITY EXPRESS 

Eastbound:   No detour. 

Westbound:  TheBus will travel the regular route to Kamehameha/Center, merge left onto Kamehameha (contra-flow lane), and then resume the regular route after passing Salt Lake. 

ROUTE E, COUNTRY EXPRESS 

Eastbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to Pali/Beretania, right Beretania, left Nuuanu, left King, and then resume the regular route. 

Westbound:  No detour.

ROUTE W1, WAIPAHU VIA FARRINGTON EXPRESS

ROUTE W2, WAIPAHU VIA PAIWA EXPRESS

A.M. Operation:   TheBus will travel the regular route to H-1 EAST/Airport area, continue on H-1 EAST, take EXIT 23, “PUNAHOU ST,” right Punahou, right Beretania, left Kalakaua, right Kapiolani, left Atkinson, left Ala Moana, and then resume the regular route. 


Traffic Advisory – KEIKI GREAT ALOHA FUN RUN 

The KEIKI GREAT ALOHA FUN RUN will be held on SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 2018.  Approximately 2,000 runners/walkers are expected to participate in this event.  The entire route is on the sidewalk and one lane of the affected streets around the Neal S. Blaisdell Center and McKinley High School. Bus stop closures will be needed at King/Ward (stop #135) and Kapiolani/Ward (stop #433). Passengers will board at the portable located eastbound on King St. about 100 feet after Victoria St. and westbound on Kapiolani Blvd. about 100 feet after Ward Ave.

The Mokapu Gate into Kaneohe Marine Base will be closed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week effective THURSDAY, JANUARY 18, 2018, until further notice.  TheBus will service all bus stops along the detour route.

Burns Fwy., enter Main Gate, onto “G” St., right Mokapu, right Harris, right Selden, veer left on 3rd St., left “G” St., exit base onto John A. Burns Freeway, right EXIT 15 “KANEOHE BAY DRIVE,” right Kaneohe Bay Dr., onto N. Kalaheo, and then resume the regular route. 


FARRINGTON HIGHWAY P.M. CONTRAFLOW 

The Farrington Hwy. Afternoon Contraflow will begin on WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 10, 2016, from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  The eastbound lanes along Farrington Hwy. will be reduced to one lane and will restrict left turns onto Nanakuli Ave.  TheBus will service all bus stops along the detour route.
