Old Pali Road Lane Closures Route 4  

Starting mid-morning Tuesday, March 16, 2010 , work will be performed at a residence on Old Pali Road , between Old Pali Place and Niniko Place .  Trucks and equipment will be parked 24/7 hours on the Koko Head side of Old Pali Drive.  Two (2) westbound City Bus Stops will also be temporarily closed for bus service for all dates.  Special Duty HPD Officers will be stationed at the Old Pali Drive/Old Pali Place and Old Pali Drive/Niniko Place intersections for traffic control.   Regular bus and vehicle traffic will be restricted for movement using only the makai-bound lane of the above area.  Also, intermittent traffic controls (holding all traffic movement) may occur for several minutes when work is being done at the home.  A temporary west-end Route 4 terminus will be established 24/7 hours on Old Pali Drive just makai of the Mamalahoa Place bus turnaround.

TEMPORARY WESTBOUND BUS STOP CLOSURES

 

NOTE:          Bus riders are to board and alight at ONLY the EASTBOUND (makai-bound Old Pali Drive ) bus stops in the area.  The following Westbound bus stops will be TEMPORARILY CLOSED 24/7.  

STOP # 1:  Mauka-bound on Old Pali Drive , opposite Old Pali Place .

STOP # 2:  Mauka-bound on Old Pali Drive , mauka of and opposite Gartley Place (Regular Route 4 Terminus).  

TEMPORARY ROUTE 4 WEST-END TERMINUS:  

*Makai-bound on Old Pali Road , between Mamalahoa Place and Niniko Place .


BUS STOP MODIFICATIONS  

Effective on the dates listed below, the City's Department of Transportation Services (DTS)/Public Transit Division (PTD) has or is officially implementing the following bus stop modifications.  

Official Bus Stop Relocations Effective February 19, 2010  

1. Old Location:  On Keolu Drive , Makapuu side, at Akaakaawa Street .  This stop serviced the routes 57, 57A, and 85 in the eastbound direction towards Kailua Town .  The reason for the relocation is to remove the bus stop off the drainage canal bridge.

New Location:  On Keolu Drive , Makapuu side, of Kanapuu Drive .

2. Old Location:  On Keolu Drive , Kahuku side, of Kanapuu Drive .  This stop serviced the routes 57 and 85 in the westbound Waimanalo direction.  The reason for the relocation is to remove the bus stop off the drainage canal bridge.

New Location:  On Keolu Drive , Kahuku side, mauka of Kanapuu Drive .  

Re-establishment of an Official Bus Stop  

Effective March 7, 2010 , DTS/PTD is re-establishing an official bus stop on North King Street, east of Kokea Street that was previously discontinued on July 19, 2006 , in Phase 2 of the island-wide Bus Stop Realignment Project.  This bus stop will be serviced ONLY by Route 1, Kaimuki-Kalihi, and NOT Route A, CityExpress!.

Location of Stop:  On North King Street , makai side, of Kokea Street .   

Official Bus Stop Relocations Effective May 30, 2010  

DTS/PTD is relocating both eastbound and westbound Routes 1 and 1L bus stops currently located on West Hind Drive at the Wailupe Stream Bridge as follows:

Eastbound Direction:

Old Location:  On East Hind Drive opposite Kiholo Street at the ewa end of the Wailupe Stream Bridge .

New Location:  On West Hind Drive east of the Wailupe Stream Bridge fronting 444 East Hind Drive .

Westbound Direction:

Old Location:  On East Hind Drive east of Kiholo Street at the ewa end of the Wailupe Stream Bridge .

New Location:  On West Hind Drive west of Kiholo Street fronting 519 West Hind Drive (on the street light pole).


BUS STOP MODIFICATION FOR MARCH 2010  

The following route modifications effective March 2010 will initiate service to the following new bus stops along the new modified routes:  

Route 73, Leeward Community College

Effective: Monday, March 8, 2010  

Eastbound: TheBus will travel the regular route mauka on Waimano Home Road to the Komo Mai Drive intersection.   

ROUTE MODIFICATION:  TheBus will continue mauka on Waimano Home Road , proceeding past Hookiekie Street , past the Waimano Home Training Center , turning right at the makai entrance driveway of the Pearl City High School 's Cultural Center Building .  Continue counter-clockwise along the driveway, exit at the top to turn left onto Waimano Home Road, left Komo Mai Drive, right Hoolaulea Street, resuming regular route to the east terminus opposite the Pearl City Shopping Center.  

New Eastbound Bus Stop:

Mauka of the Pearl City High School Cultural Center's main entrance.  

Westbound:No route modification.  

Route 434, Waipahu-Village Park

Effective: Sunday, March 7, 2010  

Eastbound: TheBus will travel the regular route to the makai-end of the Kunia Road and Kapuna Drive intersection.  ROUTE MODIFICATION:  TheBus will continue makai on Kunia Road to take the left turn lanes onto the H-1 Freeway EAST on-ramp.  Enter onto H-1 Freeway east, take Exit 7 "Waikele/Waipahu", right Paiwa Street , right Puko Street , left Mokuola Street , right Hikimoe Street to the Route 434 bus stop at the Waipahu Transit Center .  

                   New Eastbound Bus Stops:

On Paiwa Street , makai of Hiapo Street

On Paiwa Street , opposite Hapapa Street

On Puko Street, west of Paiwa Street

On Mokuola Street , mauka of Waipahu Street

On Mokuola Street , mauka of Hikimoe Street  

Westbound:No route modification.

 


 Temporary Relocation of Arizona Memorial Bus Stop Routes 20 & 42

After a review of the Ari zona Memorial's Phase 2 construction closure, the National Parks Service authorities at the Ari zona Memorial have re-assessed the Commercial Bus and Van traffic conditions.  They are now requesting that TheBus routes 20 and 42 to NOT SERVICE inside the Bus/Commercial Vehicle bus bay and adjacent parking lot due to the heavy pedestrian traffic conditions.  Thus, effective immediately, Routes 20, Waikiki-Pearlridge and 42, Ewa Beach-Waikiki, are to service the westbound bus stop on Kamehameha Highway just mauka of Kalaloa Street, twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. 


Permanent Relocation of the

Ft. Weaver Ro ad /Kolowaka Drive Eastbound Bus Stop  

Effective at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 , the eastbound official bus stop located on Ft. Weaver Road makai (nearside) of Kolowaka Drive will be permanently relocated to the mauka (farside) side of the intersection.  This bus stop services Routes E, 42, 91, and 201.  Effective March 8, 2010 , it will also be serviced by Route 101, Ewa-Gentry Express.  This activity is part of the State of Hawaii 's Ft. Weaver Road widening improvement project.  

PERMANENT BUS STOP RELOCATION

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2010 ,

  NEW OFFICIAL ROUTE E BUS STOPS  

The Department of Transportation Services (DTS)/Public Transit Division has approved the new installation of official bus stops for Route E, CountryExpress! (Ewa) on Fort Weaver Road at Kolowaka Drive in Ewa Beach .  New signage has been installed and the effective date is Saturday, January 9, 2010 , starting with the first scheduled trips eastbound and westbound.

NOTE: In a few weeks, this bus stop will be permanently discontinued and relocated to the mauka side of the Fort Weaver/Kolowaka intersection where a new bus bay and bus shelter has been built.  

WESTBOUND:

LOCATION: On Fort Weaver Road , makai of Kolowaka Drive , at the new bus bay and bus shelter.


BUS STOP MODIFICATIONS  

Effective Friday, January 15, 2010 , the City and County of Honolulu 's Department of Transportation/Public Transit Division will be implementing the following PERMANENT bus stop modifications as specified below.  

BUS STOPS DISCONTINUED

1. On Keolu Drive , makai side, distance 129' Makapuu direction from the Makapuu curb prolongation of Kamahele Street .  (Routes 57, Eastbound; 57A, Eastbound; 85 Express).  

2. On Keolu Drive , mauka side, distance 150' Makapuu direction from a point 587' Makapuu of the Makapuu curb prolongation of Akipohe Street .  (Route 57A, Westbound).  

3. On Keolu Drive , mauka side, distance 150' Makapuu direction from a point 319' Makapuu of the Makapuu curb prolongation of Akanahe Place .  (Route 57A, Westbound).  

4. On Wanaao Road , Makapuu side, distance 150' mauka direction from a point 20' mauka of the mauka curb prolongation of Paopua Loop.  (Route 57, Eastbound; Route 85 Express).  

5. On Wanaao Road , Makapuu side, distance 150' mauka direction from a point 88' mauka of the mauka curb prolongation of Paopua Loop.  (Routes 57, Westbound; Route 85 Express).
