REOPENING OF Kalakaua/Ena Bus Stop  

Effective Tuesday, August 17, 2010 , at approximately 10:30 a.m. , the bus stop at Kalakaua Avenue and Ena Road for Routes B, 2, and 13 will be reopened following the completion of the Allure Condominium project.  

A new right TURN only lane has been established prior to the intersection of Kalakaua Avenue and Ena Road .       

The City and County of Honolulu has specified a separate street sign with " Right Lane Right Turn Only EXCEPT Public Transit Vehicles."  After servicing this bus stop, TheBus will CAUTIOUSLY merge left to continue straight on Kalakaua Avenue .  


NEW BUS STOP

ROUTE 503, MILILANI-LAULANI VALLEY  

Effective Wednesday, August 11, 2010 , the City's Department of Transportation Services is establishing a new official City bus stop for the Route 503, Mililani-Launani Valley .  The details are shown below:

LOCATION OF NEW BUS STOP: On Waimakua Drive , northern ( Wahiawa ) side, prior to the intersection of Wailawa Street  

DIRECTION: Southbound, heading out of Waiakalani Valley

JULY TRAFFIC ADVISORIES  

KALANIANAOLE SEWER LINE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

(NIU VALLEY TO WAIALAE BEACH PARK)

DATES:   Monday, June 28, 2010, to completion.  Work is being done in phases.

ROUTES AFFECTED:   All eastbound bus routes 1, 1L, 22, 23, 24, 80, 80A, and PH6 on Kalanianaole Highway operating from Ainakoa Avenue to Kawaikui Beach Park will be affected.  

Construction of a sewer line by-pass pipe is being located on the sidewalk area on the makai side of Kalanianaole Highway.  Phase 1 involves the area between Kawaikui Beach Park and Wailupe Beach Park. The contractor has requested that any bus stop along the work area be relocated to a nearby driveway where City buses will be able to service wheelchair and disabled bus riders.   

KALANIANAOLE HIGHWAY SAFETY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

(LUNALILO HOME ROAD TO HALONA BLOW HOLE)

DATES:   Tuesday, July 8, 2010, for approximately four (4) months (excluding weekends).

TIME:       Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

                 Monday – Thursday Night Work:  9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

                 (Work area only from Hanauma Bay to Blow Hole)

ROUTE AFFECTED:  Route 22, BeachBus, (Eastbound and Westbound)

The project includes installation of centerline rumble strips, reflector markers, milepost reference markers, pavement markings, striping, and signage. Only weekday daytime work will affect Route 22.The work area will involve lane closures and only one lane will be open to traffic, most likely contra-flowed.    


BUS STOP AT N.KING/KOKEA RE-ESTABLISHED  

Effective Wednesday, June 30, 2010 , the City and County of Honolulu 's Department of Transportation Services/Public Transit Division is re-establishing an official City bus stop on North King Street , Koko Head side of Kokea Street , in the westbound direction.  This bus stop will affect only Route 1, Kaimuki-Kalihi.

Temporary Relocation of Arizona Memorial Bus Stop Routes 20 & 42

After a review of the Ari zona Memorial's Phase 2 construction closure, the National Parks Service authorities at the Ari zona Memorial have re-assessed the Commercial Bus and Van traffic conditions.  They are now requesting that TheBus routes 20 and 42 to NOT SERVICE inside the Bus/Commercial Vehicle bus bay and adjacent parking lot due to the heavy pedestrian traffic conditions.  Thus, effective immediately, Routes 20, Waikiki-Pearlridge and 42, Ewa Beach-Waikiki, are to service the westbound bus stop on Kamehameha Highway just mauka of Kalaloa Street, twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
