HONOLULU MARATHON

 

The HONOLULU MARATHON will be held on SUNDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2024.  Approximately 35,000 runners and wheelchair racers will participate in this year’s race.  Wheelchair entrants will be escorted by bicycles and will start at 4:55 a.m.  Runners will start at 5:00 a.m. and roadways will progressively open throughout the day.  TheBus will service all bus stops along the detour route.

Hawaii Kai– TheBus will travel the regular route to King/Beretania Junction, veer left onto Hotel, left Alakea, onto Queen Emma, right Vineyard, right Lusitana, right Alapai, cross Beretania, onto Alapai (contra-flow lane), left King, resuming regular route to Waialae/Hunakai, left Hunakai, right Kilauea, left Malia, right Ainakoa, left Kalanianaole, regular route to Keahole/Kalanianaole (do not service Hawaii Kai Park & Ride), left Kalanianaole, left Lunalilo, and then resume the regular route.

 

Westbound:   Kahala Mall– From the temporary terminus at Hunakai/Waialae, TheBus will continue on Hunakai, cross Waialae, right Kilauea, right Waialae, and then resume the regular route.

 

Hawaii Kai– TheBus will travel the regular route to Kalanianaole/Keahole, right Keahole (do not service Hawaii Kai Park & Ride), left Hawaii Kai, resuming regular route to Kalanianaole/Ainakoa, right Ainakoa, left Malia, left Kilauea, right Waialae, and then resume the regular route.

 

ROUTE 2, SCHOOL-WAIKIKI-KAHALA

Westbound:   18th Avenue- From the temporary terminus on Diamond Head, TheBus will continue on Diamond Head onto Monsarrat, and then resume the regular route.

 

Kahala Mall- TheBus will travel the regular route to Kilauea/22nd, right 22nd, left Pahoa, left Ocean View, right Kilauea, left Makapuu, right Diamond Head onto Monsarrat, and then resume the regular route.

 

*Note: ONLY if KCC Parking Lot is CLOSED: From temporary terminus, TheBus will turn right Pokole, right Kilauea, right Makapuu, right Monsarrat, and then resume the regular route.

 

ROUTE 3, KAIMUKI-SALT LAKE

Eastbound:    TheBus will travel the regular route to Hotel/Alakea, left Alakea, onto Queen Emma, right Vineyard, right Lusitana, right Alapai, cross Beretania, onto Alapai (contra-flow lane), left King, right Keeaumoku, left Kapiolani, resuming regular route to *Kilauea/Makapuu, right Makapuu, left into Kapiolani Community College parking lot, exit driveway to Diamond Head, right Diamond Head to KCC bus stop for temporary terminus.

ROUTE 8, MAKIKI-ALA MOANA-WAIKIKI

Eastbound:    TheBus will travel the regular route to Kuhio/Kapahulu, left Kapahulu, right Herbert, left Campbell, left Kapahulu to the temporary terminus on Kapahulu (across from First Hawaiian Bank).

 

Westbound:   From the temporary terminus, TheBus will continue on Kapahulu, right Kuhio, and then resume the regular route.
