Events/Short Term Detour Information

PRINCE KUHIO COMMEMORATION PARADE 

The PRINCE KUHIO COMMEMORATION PARADE will be held on SATURDAY, MARCH 25, 2017.  The event is expected to have 800 marchers, 35 vehicles, 2 floats and 2 bands.  The parade will begin at Fort DeRussy on Kalakaua and end at the Kapiolani Park Bandstand parking lot. 

TheBus will service all bus stops along the detoured route.  During the parade, there will be no westbound service on Kalia Rd.  All westbound passengers may transfer to their desired westbound routes at Ala Moana/ Ena. 

AFFECTED ROUTES:

8, 14, 19, 20, 22, 23, 24, 42 & E

AFFECTED AREA:

No service on Saratoga, along Kalakaua to Poni Moi and along Monsarrat from Kalakaua to Paki. There will be reduced service on Kalia Rd. and will be serviced in the eastbound direction only.

ROUTE 8, WAIKIKI-ALA MOANA 

Eastbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to Kalia/U.S. Army Museum driveway, right counter-clockwise into U.S. Army Museum driveway, service the temporary bus stop inside the circle, exit left Kalia, right Ala Moana, right Kalakaua, left Kuhio, left Kapahulu, right Leahi to the temporary terminus at Leahi/Hinano. 

Westbound:  From the temporary terminus at Leahi/Hinano, TheBus will continue on Leahi, right Monsarrat, right Paki, left Kapahulu, right Kuhio, onto Kalakaua, right Pau, left Ala Wai, left Niu, onto Ala Moana, and then resume the regular route after crossing Ena. 

ROUTE 14, ST. LOUIS-MAUNALANI 

Eastbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to Kapahulu/Ala Wai, right Ala Wai, left Ohua, left Kuhio, left Kapahulu, right Leahi, right Noela, left Paki, right Kalakaua, make a left U-turn at the Dillingham Fountain, left Kalakaua, and then resume the regular route. 

Westbound:  No detour. 

ROUTE 19, WAIKIKI-AIRPORT-HICKAM

ROUTE 20, WAIKIKI-PEARLRIDGE 

Eastbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to Ala Moana/Kalia, continue on Ala Moana, right Kalakaua, left Kuhio, left Kapahulu, right Leahi, right Noela, left Paki, right Kalakaua, make a left U-turn at the Dillingham Fountain, left Kalakaua, and then resume the regular route. 

Westbound:  TheBus will travel the regular route to Kuhio/Olohana, continue on Kuhio, onto Kalakaua, right Pau, left Ala Wai, left Niu, onto Ala Moana, and then resume the regular route after crossing Ena. 

ROUTE 22, BEACH BUS 

Eastbound:   From the terminus on Niu/Kalakaua, TheBus will travel left Kalakaua, left Kuhio, left Kapahulu, right Leahi, right Noela, left Paki, right Kalakaua, make a left U-turn at the Dillingham Fountain, left Kalakaua, resuming regular route. 

Westbound:  No detour. 

ROUTE 23, HAWAII KAI-SEA LIFE PARK 

Eastbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to Ala Moana/Kalia, continue on Ala Moana, right Kalakaua, left Kuhio, left Kapahulu, right Leahi, left Monsarrat, and then resume the regular route. 

Westbound:  TheBus will travel the regular route to Kuhio/Olohana, continue on Kuhio, onto Kalakaua, right Pau, left Ala Wai, left Niu, onto Ala Moana, and then resume the regular route after crossing Ena. 

ROUTE 24, KAPAHULU-AINA HAINA 

Eastbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to Kapahulu/Ala Wai, right Ala Wai, left Ohua, left Kuhio, left Kapahulu, right Leahi, left Monsarrat, and then resume the regular route.

Westbound:  No detour. 

ROUTE 42, EWA BEACH-WAIKIKI

ROUTE E, COUNTRY EXPRESS!  

Eastbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to Ala Moana/Kalia, continue on Ala Moana, right Kalakaua, left Kuhio, left Kapahulu, right Leahi to the temporary terminus at Leahi/Hinano. 

Westbound:  From the temporary terminus at Leahi/Hinano, TheBus will continue on Leahi, right Monsarrat, right Paki, left Kapahulu, right Kuhio, onto Kalakaua, right Pau, left Ala Wai, left Niu, onto Ala Moana, and then resume the regular route after crossing Ena. 


PRINCE KUHIO HOLIDAY 

PRINCE KUHIO DAY will be observed on MONDAY, MARCH 27, 2017.  All City bus routes including Community Access Services will operate their STATE HOLIDAY SCHEDULES. 

REMINDER

·       Regular express service will be provided to the Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. 

 


ROUTE 44 DETOUR – GEIGER ROAD 

On TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2017, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week until further notice, the Route 44 will be detoured due to the road work at Geiger Road/Kapolei Parkway.   

Note:  TheBus will service all bus stops along the detour route.

Westbound: TheBus will travel the regular route to Geiger/Kapolei Parkway, right Kapolei Parkway, left Launahele, left Geiger, right Kapolei Parkway, and then resume the regular route.  


WESTBOUND FARRINGTON AT WAIAWA CONTRAFLOW 

 

Beginning MONDAY NIGHT, FEBRUARY 27, 2017, TO FRIDAY MORNING, MARCH 3, 2017, from 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., nightly, westbound traffic will be diverted onto the eastbound lanes, which will require the closure of the westbound stop at Farrington/Opposite Waiawa.  TheBus will service all stops along the detour route.

Westbound: TheBus will travel the regular route to Farrington/Waiawa, left Waiawa, right Farrington, traveling in the far right lane to enter the crossover, merge over right to exit back out into the westbound lanes of Farrington, and then resume the regular route.


KANEOHE MARINE BASE – MOKAPU GATE CLOSURE  

The Mokapu Gate into Kaneohe Marine Base will be closed on weekends effective SATURDAY, JANUARY 28, 2017, until further notice.  TheBus will service all bus stops along the detour route.

Eastbound:   No detour. 

Westbound:  TheBus will travel the regular route to N. Kalaheo/Mokapu Rd., continue straight ahead onto Kaneohe Bay Dr., right onto access to Kaneohe Marine Base, onto John A. Burns Fwy., enter main gate, onto “G” St., right Mokapu, right Harris, right Selden, veer left on 3rd St., left “G” St., exit base onto John A. Burns Freeway, right EXIT 15 “KANEOHE BAY DRIVE,” right Kaneohe Bay Dr., onto N. Kalaheo, and then resume the regular route.


AIRPORT UPPER LEVEL BUS STOP closure

The Airport Upper Level, Main Terminal Diamond Head, bus stop will be closed nightly from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. starting TUESDAY, JANUARY 17, 2017, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. Traffic will be diverted through the Airport Upper Level Makai lanes after the International Terminal. Passengers may board buses at the Airport Upper Level Main Terminal Ewa bus stop.

FARRINGTON HIGHWAY P.M. CONTRAFLOW 

The Farrington Hwy. Afternoon Contraflow will begin on WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 10, 2016, from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  The eastbound lanes along Farrington Hwy. will be reduced to one lane and will restrict left turns onto Nanakuli Ave.  TheBus will service all bus stops along the detour route.
